you know, it's been a while since da5id and i made actual "Dance Music". having ridden the trance train about as far as we possibly could on Nympho and Re:Vision, we kind of said "no more" when we started working on Beyond.
so, now we've done Beyond and Arena, and those albums have their own sound for sure, not dance music but something that's probably a little more interesting. and since Arena won't be out for a while (August 18th, to be exact), we started working on a single to promote it.
the single is for the track 'Come Together', which is the first track on Arena, and definitely one of my personal favorites from the album. and we though, maybe we should do some club mixes.
i'll admit, it's been a while since i set out to make some music to shake your ass to. and it's pretty fuckin fun, i have to say...
the mixes are sounding quite amazing, and i challenge anyone to try and stand still while listening to these. if DJ's don't pick these tracks up and use them to rock the dancefloor, then they will certainly be depriving people of achieving maximum ass shake-age.
the 'Come Together' single will be available on July 21st from Metropolis.

informatik will take your questions now
so, da5id and i want to do a video interview type of thing in advance of the upcoming album [ARENA], sort of in the diggnation style, where we take questions from fans, etc.
if you have anything you've always wanted to ask us (eg; "why haven't you guys done a proper US tour"), or wanted to know more about (eg; "why is tyler always wearing a vest") or just want to tell us how awesome we are (eg; "i really loved syntax, whats with all this shitty rock music you're doing these days"), this is your chance.
questions will not be censored, but we do reserve the right to select only the 10 best (we don't want to make this an epic feature film). i'm going to try and keep this to one take, so it's as "real" and honest as possible.
if you wanna know anything, please post it in the comments, and i'll let you know when the video is complete. ps, i'm not gonna answer any questions posed in the comments, in the comments. you're just gonna have to wait like everyone else ;)
thanks everyone!

so, we're extremely close to the end of making ARENA! right now we're proofing the artwork, and doing some last minute layout decisions. all the mixes and mastering are complete, and the record sounds pretty fucking amazing, i have to say.
i think people are definitely going to be surprised when they hear this album. the new direction that we're heading in is more well defined on this record, and the remixes are definitely some of the best we've ever gotten. but even so, there's stuff that will even please the older fans who won't let go of Syntax (seriously, we love you guys, but c'mon that record is a decade old now!).
overall, its been a good experience putting this record together, and i think it sounds better than any of the other albums we've made. it definitely feels like the sum of our combined musical experience, i would say.
my next post should hopefully have the final album artwork to show you. the artwork this time around is a big departure from previous albums, in my opinion, but really symbolizes the direction of the new material.

working on the final mixes!!
well, we're getting really really close to the end of ARENA!!
today we're hopefully putting the final touches on all of the mixes, and doing the next round of listening tests this week. provided that there are no problems, we'll be basically finished. i think at that point, we're just waiting on the Claire Voyant remix, and finishing the artwork, and then we deliver.
i'll put up the new artwork once that's done too, and i think we have more video plans in the works as well. too early to say for sure, but we have a lot of ideas about what's next. if all goes well, we're going to do some cool stuff through the summertime.

informatik on the twitterscapes
yeah yeah, we get it, we get it. it's not cool.
we think twitter is a little on the wack side, BUT we know that people seem to enjoy getting twittered and twatted and whatnot, and all the kids say it's a must do. "kids today" seem to miss the irony of being referred to as "followers", but i digress.
so, we have caved to the demand and gotten a twitter account. you can, like totally, follow us at:
twitter.com/informatikmusic
where you can read bite sized pieces of minutiae about our upcoming albums, tours, etc etc.
not sure how often we will actually post, but there you have it.
ps, i warn you now that we don't know what we're doing on that thing, so don't be offended if we don't reply to messages in any kind of reasonable fashion.

all new nymphomatik.com
so, we used to have this really excellent website, back in 2002 when we released "Nymphomatik". evan from battery did it, and it looked great. but then, we couldn't keep it updated and we got busy doing other stuff like making "Re:Vision" and all sorts of other things, and the website eventually went out of date and we took it down.
when myspace came along we basically rerouted the domain over to our sweet ass myspace page, and just left it there. i mean, why not, it has a music player and pictures and videos and all kinds of shit that people like to look at.
but we did this remix contest and wanted to do a nice digital release of the best tracks that we received, and we didn't have a good place to host it that would look and feel like something even halfway decent.
so, to the best of our decidedly non-web oriented abilities, we have crafted an all new website, which you can see in all of it's glory here at:
doubleyoudoubleyoudoubleyoudotnymphomatikdotcom
you can download the 'beyond remix contest' album from there, and we'll be adding more content to the site as we go. but for now, you should all be going to the site, downloading the new remix album and rocking the fuck out!!

beyond remix contest
so, the remix album is now complete!! we have a final track order and artwork and the mastering is done, and the shit is HOT!! we'll be releasing this very soon, and will have more details once the release is up, but needless to say we're very excited about getting this one finished.
in lieu of any actual music, here's the cover artwork...

anyway, i'm sure you will all dig this. it has a really diverse lineup, in terms of musical style, ranging from hip-hop to progressive house to terror ebm. lots of up and coming acts that you're sure to hear more from in the future, as well as some more well known names.
so, stay tuned, this thing will be live in (hopefully) about a week or so.
